Well, it could be worse, but it still sucks. Sorry to see that man.

The shaking was brutal. It lasted a long time with one really violent jolt about mid way through - think large tractor-trailer slamming in to your house. After that the house felt like it was sitting on Jell-o for about 15 seconds, and then it was all over. There have been numerous after-shocks since, but no other damage. I also lost a lot of plaster in the entryway, but that was most likely going to be replaced at some point. The dining room is the worst, from an emotional standpoint. I just finished that room.

Ugh. I'm glad it's not worse, but that is SO frustrating! Hopefully you can repair the damage without much work.

Yes, it is very frustrating. It is also very interesting that all of the damage is on the first floor of the house. I just noticed something else. In the downstairs bathroom, about a half gallon of water sloshed out of the tank of the high-tank toilet. About 14-feet away from that toilet are the cabinets that I built in the dining room. They are filled with a bunch of china from my Great-Great-Grandmother. The china in the cabinet did not move and inch. I was sitting in the kitchen at the time, which sits in between the bathroom and dining room. I caught the TV as it was thrown out of the cabinet. The damage seems to be so random in the house.

Oh, how sad! I'm glad you're ok, but very sorry for your poor house!

I'm glad the damage wasn't worse, but my first thought was, "Oh no, not the dining room!" I'm very, very glad the quake didn't break your great-great-grandmother's china. You can fix the damaged plaster.
